Miranda McMillin, M.D., goes the distance for her patients

Miranda McMillin, M.D., trained for her first half marathon this year. This distance runner grew up in Lubbock, Texas, where she ran alongside her grandfather and learned the value of training, hard work and perseverance. An honors student at Lubbock High School, she remained loyal to her home town and family alma mater when she chose a college and medical school. Dr. McMillin was accepted into the Texas Tech University Undergraduate to Medical School Initiative, and she graduated with honors – magna cum laude.

A move to Dallas for Miranda McMillin, M.D.

When you choose an Ob-Gyn to care for you, especially during pregnancy, you want to know that she is prepared for anything. Dr. McMillin hit the ground running in Dallas, Texas, at one of the busiest Ob-Gyn residency programs in the United States, reporting over 10,000 deliveries per year. Her time at Parkland Hospital, affiliated with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, positioned her to amass a wealth of knowledge and experience.

In two years, she delivered more babies and attended to more high-risk pregnancies than most Ob-Gyns experience in five years in private practice.

The fellowship training she then pursued exposed Dr. McMillin to surgical advances that have revolutionized healthcare. She is particularly interested in minimally invasive surgery, perfecting her skills in laparoscopic and robotic techniques so that women can expect less pain and bleeding and recover faster when they have gynecologic surgery for conditions such as fibroids, endometriosis and polyps.

Why become a Cedar Park Ob-Gyn?

Dr. McMillin says that she chose a specialty area that would allow her to combine her two great loves – women’s health/prenatal care and surgery.  As a Cedar Park Ob-Gyn, Dr. McMillin is looking forward to providing comprehensive care to her new patients, and sharing with them strategies for optimizing their health and wellness at all stages of life.

She is conversant in Spanish, and brings a love of lifelong learning and exploration to her practice. Dr. McMillin met and married her husband while in her residency in Dallas, and her husband practices law in nearby Georgetown. In her spare time, Dr. McMillin enjoys cooking, salsa dancing, running and spending time with her family.
